Vollure is one of the newest additions to the Juvéderm® line, just receiving FDA approval in March 2017. This dermal filler offers distinct advantages only available in this next generation of Juvéderm® formulations. Vollure provides subtle improvement to deep creases like nasolabial folds and marionette lines with results that extend up to 18 months. This is the longest duration of results seen for these particular aging symptoms, offering patients a convenient treatment that produces natural, beautiful results.
What is Vollure?
Vollure is a filler containing hyaluronic acid, a sugar naturally produced by the body to help the skin retain moisture and its soft, supple appearance. As we age, our bodies produce less hyaluronic acid, which leads to drier skin and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Vollure uses a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid to support the underlying dermal structure, improving fine lines and wrinkles from the inside out.
Vollure features the proprietary VYCROSS® technology from Allergan, which combines molecular weights of hyaluronic acid particles to create a smoother, longer-lasting result (up to 1 year). Other advantages of VYCROSS® technology include easier, less painful injections and a natural look that does not indicate a dermal filler is present.
What does it treat?
Vollure is formulated to address nasolabial folds, the lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Also known as laugh lines, these wrinkles can become quite deep and difficult to treat effectively. Vollure offers natural smoothing of these lines with results that last longer than any other filler to date. Vollure can also be used to treat other moderate to severe signs of aging in the lower face, including marionette lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin.
Vollure is not a good choice for lines and wrinkles on the upper portion of the face, such as vertical lines the form between the eyebrows. These creases are known as “dynamic” wrinkles because they form when you make certain facial expressions. Dynamic wrinkles are more efficiently addressed using wrinkle relaxers like Botox®, another treatment currently available at the Center for Facial & Body Rejuvenation.
Your Vollure Treatment
We will advise you to refrain from taking aspirin or blood thinners before your Vollure injections since these medications can increase the risk of bruising. A fine needle is used, ensuring you experience minimal discomfort during your procedure. The solution also contains lidocaine, a numbing medicine that prevents discomfort as the liquid is administered to the underlying dermal layers. Some patients may choose to have a topical numbing cream applied before their injections as well.
Injections are quick to perform, usually taking around 30 minutes to complete. In some cases, we may ice the treatment area before you leave to minimize possible swelling and bruising afterward.
Recovering from Vollure Injections
You will be able to head back to your daily schedule immediately following your Vollure procedure. Any side effects from the injections will be mild and typically subside within a matter of hours to days. Discoloration due to bruising can be hidden underneath makeup. We do recommend consistent use of sun protection after your treatment.
Vollure is an innovative way to reverse some of the most problematic signs of aging, with a duration of results not seen with any other filler today.
