Restylane® and Resylane Lyft

Restylane_L_RGBRestylane® and Restylane® Lyft® are injectable dermal fillers that that can do a lot to reverse time and help you look younger. Like other dermal fillers, they restore lost volume in the face. As we age, our skin loses the plump appearance of youth, and this loss results in lines, wrinkles, and hollowed or sunken areas.

In the hands of skilled injectors like our board-certified facial plastic surgeons, Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft can be used to recontour your face so that moderate to severe lines and wrinkles are smoother. Restylane® can also be used for lip augmentation, making your lips fuller and more youthful.

Restylane® is soft and transparent, so it is especially effective on fine lines, such as the ones around your mouth. Restylane® Lyft’s particles are larger, so it works best on more severe lines and wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds. It can even build up areas that have begun to sag.

In addition to facial anti-aging and lip enhancement abilities, Restylane® is helpful for non-surgical hand rejuvenation to restore lost volume to thinning areas of the hands, creating a more youthful appearance.

Both Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring, hydrating substance already found in your skin. For this reason, no allergy tests are required. The first treatment lasts about six months. A second treatment of Restylane® or Restylane® Lyft can often last as long as 18 months.

At the Center for Facial and Body Rejuvenation, Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft injections are administered by our board-certified facial plastic surgeons. With their training and knowledge of facial anatomy, they can evaluate your face to determine the best positioning for your injections, as well as the proper dosage. This ensures that you will receive natural-looking results.

For wrinkles caused by muscle activity, such as frown lines and crow’s feet, Botox® or Dysport® injections work best. After we examine you, we will be able to advise you which injectable will provide you with the look you want. Sometimes a combination of dermal fillers is recommended.

Your Restylane® or Restylane® Lyft Treatment

We will ask you to avoid aspirin and blood thinners for about a week before your injections. We administer Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft using a fine needle, so neither is a painful treatment. Lidocaine is included in both formulas to numb the injection sites, but we can also apply a topical anesthetic to further numb the treated areas.

The injections themselves usually take no more than 30-45 minutes. Afterward, we may apply an ice pack to the area for a few minutes, but you can go home immediately. You will begin to see results almost right away.

Recovering from Restylane®/Restylane® Lyft Injections

Restylane® and Perlane® injections require no downtime, but we advise that you avoid exercise for a couple of days.

Common side effects include temporary bruising, swelling, tenderness, and itching. These symptoms usually only last a few days to a week. We can provide oral and topical products that will help to resolve bruising more quickly. In the meantime, you can use makeup to cover any discoloration, and please use sunblock when outdoors.
