Thread Lifting can reposition underlying tissues and smooth and lift loose facial skin. It produces more dramatic and longer-lasting results than treatments with dermal fillers and BOTOX®. This procedure fills the gap between surgery and injectables, giving you another anti-aging option for a customized, comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

How does the MINT PDO Thread Lift work?

The MINT PDO thread lift is an exciting innovation in non-surgical face lifting. This treatment is FDA-cleared and is in wide use in 14 other countries. The procedure requires only local anesthesia, involves minimal pain, minimal scarring, and a rapid recovery – you will see your results immediately, able to return to your day at once. The threads used in a MINT PDO lift are made from a sterile, absorbable suture made of polydioxanone, a colorless, biodegradable synthetic polymer.

How does the MINT PDO Thread Lift compare to other thread lifting procedures?

The MINT PDO thread lift procedure is a top performer, and can produce an extremely natural looking lift, as the threads have tiny barbs along the length of thread, rather than cones. The thread is gently pulled, and the soft barbs gently lift the entire area, with no single point suspending the restored location of the tissue, for a very uniform, smooth, and youthful look.

Am I a good candidate for thread lifting?

The aging process has an impact on your facial appearance. As collagen levels decline in the body, the underlying dermal structure loses the support necessary to maintain its youthful, supple, quality.

The result is skin laxity and migrating tissue that leads to sagging in the midface, jowls along the jawline and a tired, worn, facial appearance. In the past, the only effective way to address these changes was with a surgical facelift.

While that is still the appropriate option for men and women with more advanced facial aging, those with moderate skin laxity and drooping may see excellent results with this innovative nonsurgical option.

PDO Thread Lift – Nonsurgical Thread | Mint Threads And String Lift

MINT PDO is a safe and effective thread that is used to pull and approximate soft tissues of the sagging skin to a desired position. MINT™ has received its 510(k) clearance from the FDA and is currently being used in 14 other countries worldwide.

How long will my results last?

In addition to providing immediate improvement to the appearance, thread lifting is designed to stimulate the body’s collagen production. As the body reabsorbs the cones and sutures over time, collagen levels increase to support the more youthful appearance, naturally. This process also ensures the results of your thread lifting procedure will last 12 to 18 months in most cases, much longer than most other nonsurgical methods of skin tightening.

Does thread lifting cause any scarring?

At Cheng Plastic Surgery, we perform the thread lifting procedure under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. There are no incisions used for the procedure; which means no residual scarring and very little (if any) downtime following treatment. One of our surgeons will place two to four sutures on either side of the face via a narrow needle, in a predetermined pattern, to ensure a balanced, symmetrical appearance.

How long will the procedure take, and will it be painful?

The entire procedure takes about 45 minutes to complete. During that time, you should not feel any discomfort, thanks to the numbing medication. Once the sutures are placed and tightened according to your desired look, you will be able to leave our center and return home.

Will there be any downtime?

There is no significant recovery time after your thread lifting procedure. You can return to your daily schedule within a day or two. You may have some mild bruising, swelling, or redness in the areas where the sutures were inserted, but these side effects resolve within a few days.

Will the results be noticeable right away?

The results of this nonsurgical lift are noticeable immediately following your procedure, as your facial profile should appear lifted and more youthful. Sagging in the midface and jowl formation along the jawline will be lifted and more youthful, with results improving as the days pass. As the sutures stimulate the body to produce higher levels of collagen, every day brings an improvement in your skin quality and firmness.

Will I need additional treatments?

Like any anti-aging treatment, including surgery, the positive improvements will begin to fade over time as the effects of time and gravity begin to take their toll once again. A thread lifting procedure typically provides a more youthful look for about 12 to 18 months before another treatment might be necessary. You can also combine thread lifting with other treatments such as injectables or skin rejuvenation with a custom peel or other treatment to further enhance and prolong the results.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Friday, March 20, 2020:

Even with social distancing, we're still here for you.

During this difficult time, we will continue to try and be there for all of you in any capacity we can. To protect ourselves, our staff, our community and of course, you, we will still continue to refrain from seeing patients in the office (unless urgent or emergent) until the Shelter-in-Place Ordinance has been lifted. But this doesn't mean all communication stops!⁣

As social distancing, self-isolation and shelter-in-place are extremely important during this time, so is trying our best to still keep a sense of "normalcy" within our daily routines. Communication is a fundamental component of everyday life and something we strongly believe is key to alleviating stress, anxiety and even depression. If we can be a pillar of relief, happiness or normality in the not-so-normal climate we are experiencing - we've done our job not only as your physician, but as your friend.

If you are interested in simply just chatting, advice on the current health crisis, a follow up to a treatment or planning for a future procedure, both Dr. Elbert and Dr. Jacqueline will be doing Virtual FaceTime Appointments starting Monday, March 23rd! They will be available Monday - Friday from 9 AM PST - 12 PM PST.

Please email us at [email protected] with a date and time that works best and we will be sure to reach out in a quick and efficient manner. If you would prefer to call the office and leave us a message at (408) 255-3223, a staff member will reach out as soon as possible.

During this time, we also feel it is extremely important to take care of YOU!

Reading your favorite book, doing at-home yoga and putting on your favorite face mask or serum is not only physically beneficial, but mentally as well.

To contribute to your self-care routine, we will be offering phone orders for SkinCeuticals products with20% off your total AND free shipping!

What do you have to do? Call the office Monday - Friday between 9 AM PST - 12 PM PST and let us know which products you'd like, we will process your payment over the phone and the products will be shipped directly to your door! If you would prefer curbside-pickup style, we are more than happy to accommodate that as well! (Keeping our 6-foot social distance, of course.)

"It is how we embrace uncertainty in our lives that leads to the great transformations of our souls." - Brandon A. Trean

We will all get through this, together!

Monday, March 16, 2020:

Even with social distancing, we're still here for you.

As the current situation with COVID-19 is rapidly evolving, we are continuing to make decisions regarding our practice to keep ourselves and our community healthy. As the future of this virus is uncertain, it is mandated by Santa Clara County Public Health Department Officials that all non-essential businesses close their doors and shelter in place.

Because of this region-wide order, our office will be closed as of Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 and will be rescheduling all non-emergent treatments, follow up appointments and surgeries after Tuesday, April 7th, 2020.⁣ All future in-office events for March and April have been postponed until further notice.

To those patients that need to be seen urgently for post-operative or emergent appointments - please call our office phone number. Your call will be forwarded to an employee that can best help you as we will still have remote access to our schedule. They will make the necessary arrangements to ensure you receive the proper care. ⁣

We are confident that we will make it through this and become a stronger and smarter community because of it. Yes, most people do not die from COVID-19 and many can be asymptomatic - but the sooner we isolate from one another, the sooner we can make sure those statistics do not change.⁣

As physicians, we hold health to the utmost importance so we please ask those of you who can - work from home when possible, do not go to restaurants or bars, limit your public exposure and be cognizant of those who are sick, elderly or immunocompromised. In this time, we have to not only think of ourselves, but think of those that can be directly affected and do all we can for the sake of our community, our state, and our country.⁣

We do not believe this is a time to panic - but rather the opposite. It is time to be rational and act with extreme purpose. By preventatively closing our doors for the next 3 weeks - we may be helping change the course of a potentially life-changing event in history.⁣

We look forward to a future of health and happiness with you at Cheng Plastic Surgery!⁣
