Our San Jose Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft treatments are injectable dermal fillers to smooth, fill, and restore a more youthful facial appearance. Restylane is a smooth, hyaluronic acid-based filler that when carefully injected, can take years off your look by smoothing lines, creases, or restoring volume to hollow, sunken areas.
What is Restylane®and Restylane® Lyft?
Both Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft are made of synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring, hydrating substance. For this reason, no allergy tests are required. The first treatment lasts about six months. A second treatment of Restylane® or Restylane® Lyft can often last as long as 18 months.
How Much Does Restylane® Cost?
The cost of your Restylane® enhancement will depend on your cosmetic goals, and a final price will be provided in your private consultation. Generally, however, Restylane® treatments cost an average of $750 but may be higher or lower, based on the number of units needed.
What are the Benefits of Restylane® and Restylane Lyft®?
Restylane® is a dermal filler designed to smooth wrinkles and restore or add volume, treating many of the common signs of aging and allowing you to enhance your natural beauty. Restylane® can be used to:
Plump and refine your lips for a luscious, beautiful smile
Smooth the fine lip lines without an “overfilled” look
Restore lost volume to aging cheeks
Plump and subtly smooth the “bags” beneath your eyes and minimize the appearance of dark circles
Restylane Lyft® is a similar product, in a thicker formula and effective for:
Lifting sagging cheeks
Smoothing deep smile lines
Restoring lost volume to the backs of your hands
Both products are incredibly effective, fast, “lunchtime” procedures with no downtime and instant results. You can expect the results to last anywhere in the range of eight to sixteen months, and additional treatments performed when the effects fade to continue to maintain a more youthful, refreshed look.
Who is a Candidate For Restylane®?
The Restylane® family of products is safe, FDA-approved, and safe for almost anyone who wants to achieve youthfully refreshed skin. You may not be a candidate if you are currently pregnant, under 21, or take blood-thinning medications.
What is the Difference Between Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft?
Our Palo Alto Restylane® is soft and transparent, so it is especially effective on fine lines, such as those fine lines that appear around the mouth. It can also be used for mid to deep injection into facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds including laugh lines and frown lines.
Restylane® Lyft is a sister product to Restylane®. It also works well on severe lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds.
Although they are both composed of hyaluronic acid, the gel particles in Restylane® Lyft are larger and give the filler the ability to lift and fill the mid face. It is very effectively used to build up and add volume to areas that have begun to sag, such as the mid cheek area. Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft are often used together to achieve the patient’s desired outcome.
In addition to facial anti-aging, Restylane® Lyft is helpful for non-surgical hand rejuvenation to restore lost volume to thinning hand tissue, creating a more youthful appearance.
Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne
Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne are the newest additions to the Restylane® line of products from Galderma. Formulated using a specialized technology, the gel in Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne is perfect for helping to support your natural facial expressions.
These fillers were designed specifically to correct marionette lines (the lines that run from to your chin) and nasolabial folds (the lines that run from the corners of your mouth towards your chin).
While several fillers are used for lip enhancement, our San Jose Restylane® Silk is the only filler that has been FDA approved to enhance lips and smooth the lip lines which start to appear as the years pass. Restylane® Silk is specifically designed to bring natural-looking results in these delicate areas by using smaller and more refined hyaluronic acid particles as compared to other Restylane® products.
We will ask you to avoid aspirin and blood thinners for about a week before your injections. We administer Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft using a fine needle, so neither is a painful treatment.
Lidocaine is included in both formulas to numb the injection sites, but we can also apply a topical anesthetic to further numb the treated areas.
The injections themselves usually take no more than 30 and 45 minutes. After the correct dosage is calculated, one of our experienced doctors or nurses will inject the Restylane® carefully into the treatment area. Afterward, an ice pack may be applied to the area and you will be able to go home almost immediately. Your results will already be visible directly after the procedure is performed.
Recovering From Injections
Restylane® and injections require no downtime, but we advise that you avoid exercise for a couple of days. Common side effects include temporary bruising, swelling, tenderness, and itching. These symptoms usually only last a few days to a week and will resolve on their own. If necessary, we will provide products that will help to improve bruising more quickly. In the meantime, makeup may be used to cover any discoloration and we advise the use of sunblock at all times when outdoors.

Can Restylane® help to improve the look of my hands?
As we age the volume in hands can deteriorate, leaving the upper hand tissue looking gaunt or skeletal. Restylane® Lyft is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved to treat the face and hands.
Can Restylane® be used on my frown lines?
For wrinkles caused by muscle activity, such as frown lines and crow’s feet, BOTOX® or Dysport® or Jeuveau injections are appropriate. After we examine you, we will be able to advise you which injectable will provide you with the look you want. For most patients, a combination of dermal fillers is recommended.
Are Restylane® injections safe?
Restylane® is a safe, effective and dissolvable HA filler. In the hands of skilled injectors like our double board-certified facial plastic surgeons, Restylane® and Restylane® Lyft can be used to rejuvenate your face so that moderate to severe lines and wrinkles are smoothed, leaving you looking refreshed and more youthful in just minutes.

office! We are currently working with a more limited schedule than before, so please be patient as we
navigate through this, together.
There are a few key changes we’ve made to our appointment protocol to ensure we are maintaining social
distancing and following strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols - for you AND for us.
Call from your car once you’ve arrived at the office for your appointment. A staff member will come out
to greet you, take your temperature and conduct a short COVID-19 health screening to make sure you are
good health prior to entering the building. Our doors will remain locked during normal business hours to
ensure only those who have been screened can enter.
Please arrive at your appointment wearing a mask or protective face covering. We will not be able to
bring you inside the office without one.
We will then bring you inside, offer you hand sanitizer and bring you straight back into your
room. We will at no point have any patients waiting in the lobby!
You will be greeted by Dr. Elbert or Dr. Jacqueline wearing their Personal Protective Equipment deemed
necessary by your specific treatment. (N95 mask, gloves, face shield or protective eyewear, etc.) We ask
that you leave your mask on during the procedure, and only take it off if necessary to complete the
All necessary transactions will be done in the room your treatment is being performed. This will avoid
unnecessary back ups in the lobby.
You will then be walked out through the back door of the office. This is the best way to keep all staff
and patients socially distanced while maintaining one steady flow of traffic throughout the building.
And of course, all rooms will be heavily disinfected immediately after you leave just as we have always done
prior to the pandemic. We will place a major focus on high-contact areas such as chairs, doorknobs, counter
tops, mirrors and more.
