Trying to reduce the stubborn, dimpled skin of cellulite with diet and exercise alone has traditionally proven to be a thankless task. Over 90 percent of women and 10 percent of men have cellulite, but getting rid of it on your own is almost impossible. Enter Cellfina, a non-surgical, minimally invasive microblading treatment.
What is Cellfina?
If you have cellulite on your thighs or buttocks, there is finally a treatment that smooths it. Because cellulite originates from the fibrous bands that connect the skin to the muscle below, it doesn’t respond to diet or exercise. No matter how healthy you are, you may still be unable to get rid of the cellulite.
To help you combat the effects of cellulite, we are pleased to offer Cellfina™ in our office. Cellfina is the only FDA-cleared, minimally invasive system clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years – the longest FDA clearance for cellulite treatment. After two years, 96 percent of patients were still satisfied with their results.
Areas of Expertise
How does Cellfina work?
Cellfina treats the underlying cause of cellulite, which are the fibrous bands contained in fat. Cellfina separates the different types of tissue under the skin, then cuts the bands themselves. A precision-guided platform is used to access and release these bands.
Before the procedure, your surgeon will select the bands targeted for treatment, and will draw them on your skin. The Cellfina procedure itself takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Tiny incisions are made to release the bands. You will feel some suction from the Cellfina device as it cuts the cords and disconnects them from the skin. The sensation of suction comes from the fact that these cords have a certain elasticity, so it is a bit like cutting rubber bands away from your skin. When they are cut, the tautness is released, and the skin relaxes.
You will see the results as soon as three days after your treatment, and these will become more obvious as your body continues to heal. The results of Cellfina are long lasting.
Is the Cellfina procedure painful?
This treatment is minimally invasive and performed under local anesthesia right in our office. The local anesthetic is administered before your treatment, so there is no pain during the procedure. The incisions are small enough that no stitches are required, and you can go home the same day. It is a single-treatment procedure, so you can achieve virtually all the results you need in one session.
What is the recovery from Cellfina?
No recovery time is required after Cellfina, but you may experience some tenderness and bruising for a period of weeks. You will go home with dressings on the incisions, and you will wear a compression garment for two weeks following the procedure.
The bruising and tenderness is usually minor and should not interfere with work or other activities. If necessary, you can take non-prescription medication to ease any discomfort.
