A variety of factors can contribute to facial lines as we age. This can include cellular changes, free radicals that damage the skin, repeated muscle contractions and an overall loss of collagen. BOTOX® injections in San Jose is popular for a good reason – it’s fast, effective, and requires no recovery time. This anti-aging treatment smooths wrinkles that are caused by muscle activity such as frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is made of Botulinum toxin, which is a purified protein/neurotoxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. Although the word “toxin” is in the name, there is no reason to be alarmed. BOTOX® is a purified protein that has been used medically for more than 20 years to smooth facial lines and creases, along with treating medical conditions, even in children.

How much does BOTOX® cost?

The cost of your BOTOX® in San Jose will depend on several factors, including your cosmetic goals and the number of units of the product needed to achieve the look you envision. The average cost of treatment is $550, but it may be less or more.

What are the benefits of BOTOX® injections in San Jose?

BOTOX® injections relax targeted muscles in your face and provide a double-action benefit to your skin and facial features:

  • Reduce wrinkles, fine lines, creases, and other signs of aging: BOTOX® is the “gold standard” injectable for at reducing the appearance of the “11s” that appear between your brows, smoothing crow’s feet, and horizontal forehead creases.
  • Prevent wrinkles from becoming etched into your skin: Wrinkles and creases become etched in due to constant facial expression, getting worse as the skin loses elasticity with age. Starting BOTOX® injections early can help prevent those creases from developing.

BOTOX® can also be used to treat various other facial problems, including uncontrollable eye twitching, clenched jaw, and migraines.

I had the most wonderful experience here. I had never had any kind of Botox treatment before so going in I was a little nervous but Nurse Alex was amazing. She was lighthearted but thorough. She answered all my questions and walked through every step. She made me feel comfortable and I will definitely be coming back!

My mom, who has been getting Botox for a few years now, was also very impressed and even made a future appointment while we were there.

Am I a Candidate For BOTOX® in San Jose?

You may be a good candidate for BOTOX® in San Jose if you are physically healthy and desire an improvement in the following facial concerns:

Forehead lines: Horizontal lines across the forehead which are the result of raising the eyebrows.

Drooping brows: Our brows can droop with age this can give us an angry or tired look, or eyes that appear hooded.

Frown lines: The lines that develop between the eyebrows or the “11” lines which develop from furrowing the brow.

Crow’s feet: The fine lines that develop in the corners of our eyes due to the loss of collagen in our skin.

Drooping mouth: The corners of our mouths begin to turn down as we age causing a sad, upset appearance.

Neck bands: Vertical necks bands on the neck can leave you looking less attractive and youthful.

BOTOX® does not work on every type of wrinkle. For signs of aging caused by loss of volume in the face and neck, we recommend dermal fillers such as:

For very fine lines on the surface of the skin, you will achieve the best results from skin resurfacing procedures. If you have pronounced wrinkles on the face, a surgical procedure might provide you with the results you desire.

During your consultation, we will discuss all of your treatment options and any pertinent medical history to discover which treatment is right for you. The good news is that if you do decide on more than one procedure, we are a one-stop shop for taking care of virtually every cosmetic issue.

What Should I Expect From My BOTOX® Treatment?

We administer BOTOX® using a very fine needle, so for most, there is little to no discomfort. If desired, a topical anesthetic can be applied to numb the site of your injections to make the procedure even more comfortable.

The injections themselves usually take no more than 15 minutes. Afterward, we may apply an ice pack to the area for a few minutes to help with any minimal pain swelling or redness.

Recovering from BOTOX® Injections in San Jose

One of the reasons people love BOTOX® is that they can go right back to work or elsewhere immediately after their treatment. You won’t see instantaneous results, but the effects will begin to arrive in three days to a week. You will see your full results two weeks after your treatment. We always schedule a follow-up visit with Dr. Cheng at that time to assess your results.

A few patients have a mild reaction to our Palo Alto BOTOX® injections that involves a slight bruise where the needle was inserted and a bit of tenderness. Makeup can cover any discoloration, and the soreness usually only lasts 24 to 48 hours.

How long will my BOTOX® results last?

The effects of BOTOX® can last three to four months, it is advised that you repeat the injections periodically in order to maintain your results. Many of our patients consider BOTOX® to be a vital part of their regular beauty regimen.

Is BOTOX® only for women?

BOTOX® is an excellent option for both men and women to reduce and delay the signs of aging. Are there any risks or side effects?

BOTOX® is known for being a safe and effective treatment, but there is a low possibility of temporary side-effects, including:

  • Pain, swelling, or bruising
  • Headache
  • Flu-like symptoms

The side-effects should fade within a few days of treatment. Some rare side effects could occur when BOTOX® is injected around the eyes or mouth, such as drooping eyelids. Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Monday, January 4, 2021:

We are open!

We cannot wait to see all of our amazing patients in our office! We are currently working with a more limited schedule than before, so please be patient as we navigate through this, together.

There are a few key changes we’ve made to our appointment protocol to ensure we are maintaining social distancing and following strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols - for you AND for us.

  1. Call our office from your car once you’ve arrived for your appointment. A staff member will come out to greet you, take your temperature and conduct a short COVID-19 health screening to make sure you are in good health prior to entering the building. Our doors will remain locked during normal business hours to ensure only those who have been screened can enter.
  2. Please arrive at your appointment wearing a mask or protective face covering. We will not be able to bring you inside the office without one.
  3. We will not have more than one patient in the lobby at a time.
  4. You will be greeted by Dr. Elbert or Dr. Jacqueline wearing their Personal Protective Equipment deemed necessary by your specific treatment. (N95 mask, gloves, face shield or protective eyewear, etc.) We ask that you leave your mask on during the procedure, and only take it off if necessary to complete the treatment.
  5. All necessary transactions will be done in the room your treatment is being performed. This will avoid unnecessary back ups in the lobby.
  6. You will then be walked out through the back door of the office. This is the best way to keep all staff and patients socially distanced while maintaining one steady flow of traffic throughout the building.

And of course, all rooms will be heavily disinfected immediately after you leave just as we have always done prior to the pandemic. Each room is equipped with an air filter as an added safety measure. We will place a major focus on high-contact areas such as chairs, doorknobs, counter tops, mirrors and more.

We are still continuing to conduct Virtual Consultations if you prefer a quicker and no-contact experience.

Virtual Consultation

  2. You have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  3. You traveled more than 150 miles or have been in close contact with someone who has traveled in the last 10 days.
  4. You are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
    • fever or chills
    • cough
    • shortness of breath
    • fatigue
    • muscle or body aches
    • headaches
    • sore throat
    • loss of taste or smell
    • nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting

Concerned about getting the Moderna vaccine after having recently received filler treatment? In some studies, it has been observed that a small percentage of the vaccinated groups experienced localized inflammation (swelling) after receiving the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. In said cases, all studied reactions were temporary immune responses. It has been suggested that patients refrain from getting filler two weeks before and after the vaccine. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office!

Thank you for your continued support and we can't wait to see you again!

Kindest Regards,,

Dr. Elbert, Dr. Jacqueline and staff at Cheng Plastic Surgery
