Kybella® is a revolutionary new FDA-approved product to melt away double chin fat. Our San Jose Kybella® is a specially formulated injectable that destroys excess fat cells beneath the chin.” Once destroyed, the cells are naturally shed by your body, creating a more attractive facial profile.
What is Kybella®?
Made of deoxycholic acid (a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat), Kybella® has been proven both effective and safe in over 20 studies. 79 percent of patients treated with Kybella® have reported satisfaction with the appearance of their face and chin. They also stated that they felt less self-conscious and felt they looked thinner.
Kybella® is a “lunchtime” treatment for submental (under chin) fat. Treatments of Kybella® in San Jose can dramatically improve the appearance of submental fullness and is an excellent option for patients who do not wish to undergo a surgical procedure.
How much does it generally cost?
Each treatment is tailored to the individual, based on the quantity of fat to be removed and the desired outcome, and for that reason, prices cannot be set without an in-person consultation. On average, a single treatment of Kybella® starts at around $600 or up to approximately $1,800 for those who require more comprehensive treatments.
What are the benefits of Kybella®?
The benefits of our Kybella® treatments include:
Losing your unsightly “double chin” without the need for invasive surgery
Because the fat deposits are destroyed, the results last
You can attain a more slender, sculpted jawline without undergoing surgery or lipo
No downtime after treatment – you can get back to your routine life activities immediately after Kybella® injections
Any discomfort after Kybella® is usually minimal, subsiding within a few weeks of treatment and is easily manageable with over-the-counter pain medication
A fast and comfortable treatment
You will see final results within six weeks of treatment, and many patients require only a single treatment of Kybella® to melt away a double chin. Some patients, however, may require up to six treatments (spaced six weeks apart) to achieve optimal results.
Why choose us?

As National Allergan Trainers for 15 years, our doctors have been trained in the use of Kybella® and understand exactly how it works in the body to reduce the appearance of a double chin. At Cheng Plastic Surgery, our surgeons approach every procedure individually and will provide you with attentive care.
Who is a Candidate for Kybella®?
Both men and women are likely candidates for Kybella® if they suffer from unsightly and stubborn fat beneath the chin and are in generally good health. Kybella® allows you to avoid more invasive liposuction or facelifts, providing countless people with a minimally-invasive solution to looking younger and more attractive.
First, we apply an ice pack to the treatment area to numb the skin. Using a fine needle, we begin to inject Kybella® into the area under the chin in a grid pattern, for an even distribution. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes.
Your results will be visible in about six weeks. At that time if you decide that you want additional treatment to reduce more fat, a subsequent treatment can then be performed. Most people receive two or three treatments of Kybella® at six-week intervals, but some patients may need up to six treatments for best results.
Recovering from Kybella® Injections
You can resume all activities, including work, as soon as your injections have been completed. For most patients, downtime is minimal and occurs most commonly after the first treatment session. We can advise you on how to minimize these side effects.
Some patients will experience minor swelling and bruising for approximately seven days. These effects can be covered with makeup, but you may not want to schedule any major events or photographs while receiving Kybella® in Palo Alto. If you experience any pain, you may take Tylenol or Motrin for relief.
How many treatments of Kybella® will I require?
Many patients treated with Kybella® experience visible contouring of their chin profile in two to four treatments. Some people require up to six treatments in order to achieve their desired results. Once your chin profile has improved, you may not need to be treated with Kybella® again.
Is Kybella® the best treatment to address my submental fullness?
Kybella® does not remove sagging, excess skin. For mild sagging, Ultherapy or Thermage might be better options for you. For substantial sagging, a facelift may be the only procedure that will fully rejuvenate your face. If you have vertical neck bands, which are often a result of loosened muscles, you may require a neck lift. distancing and following strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols - for you AND for us.
Call from your car once you’ve arrived at the office for your appointment. A staff member will come out
to greet you, take your temperature and conduct a short COVID-19 health screening to make sure you are
good health prior to entering the building. Our doors will remain locked during normal business hours to
ensure only those who have been screened can enter.
Please arrive at your appointment wearing a mask or protective face covering. We will not be able to
bring you inside the office without one.

You will be greeted by Dr. Elbert or Dr. Jacqueline wearing their Personal Protective Equipment deemed
necessary by your specific treatment. (N95 mask, gloves, face shield or protective eyewear, etc.) We ask
that you leave your mask on during the procedure, and only take it off if necessary to complete the

And of course, all rooms will be heavily disinfected immediately after you leave just as we have always done
prior to the pandemic. We will place a major focus on high-contact areas such as chairs, doorknobs, counter
tops, mirrors and more.
