Mini Facelift vs. Traditional Facelift
A traditional facelift is suitable for patients with moderate to severe signs of aging, including prominent wrinkles and creases, excessive sagging skin, loss of volume from the cheeks, fat displacement, drooping jowls, sagging skin around the neck, etc. The cosmetic surgeon must tighten the underlying SMAS layer, remove excess skin tissues, and perhaps consider liposuction to remove excess fat tissues.
A mini facelift, however, is meant for patients who have mild to moderate signs of aging on the lower face or neck regions, such as mild fine lines and creases with slight skin laxity. The cosmetic surgeon creates smaller incisions around the hairline to pull and trim the skin tissues. A mini facelift doesn’t necessitate SMAS tightening, liposuction, and other additional procedures. Patients also recover sooner from a mini facelift.
